Devotions from WinShape Staff: We Were Made

Devotions from WinShape Staff – Marissa Jackson

When I was growing up, I LOVED going on family vacations to the beach. It was one of my favorite things we did as a family every year and I looked forward to it every summer! The sand in between my toes, jumping the waves, going to get ice cream every night, the salty air… those vacations were the best! But one of my absolute favorite things to do was making sand castles. My sister and I would take our buckets and shovels and get to building. We would make lots of castles and after spending an hour of hard work we would stand back and be so proud! We would also pray and hope the water never came up and reached them over night as we left the beach at the end of the day – and why would we do this? Because we had made those castles ourselves and we were proud of them.

Do you remember making that ultimate sand castle at the beach and hoping it would never fall? Or do you remember the time you made the coolest craft at school and you brought it home and your parents put it on display or hung it on the fridge? Do you also remember how proud you were to see the sand castle you MADE standing? Or to see the craft you MADE on display?

This is exactly how God feels about us. In Ephesians 2: 8-10 it says:
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

God created each one of us individually. Just like we use our hands to make things like sand castles and crafts, God used His hands to make you. He made every single part of you exactly how He wanted; the color of your eyes, how tall you are, your personality and even your heart. He made you. And just like the proud feeling you get when you see your castle standing or your art on display, God looks at you and He is so proud because you are what He made. He looks at you as the most amazing son or daughter because He made you with His own hands, exactly how He wanted you.

Hope sees that God makes and so you can walk through today seeing and knowing that God made you and He is so proud of you because He made you exactly how He wanted.

We hope you enjoyed this devotion from our team. Today’s post was written by Marissa Jackson.
