When your Camper returns home, their heart is full of stories, memories, and truths they discovered at camp—but getting them to open up isn’t always easy. This Camp Truths at Home guide is here to help you start meaningful conversations after camp, from the car ride home to moments around the dinner table.
Whether your child attended day camp or overnight camp, these simple questions and prompts will help you connect, reflect on the camp truths they learned, and grow in faith together. Let’s keep the camp experience going, one conversation at a time.
Questions for the Car-Ride Home
First things first, whether attending a day camp or overnight camp, you can use these questions to help your Camper begin talking to you about their camp experience on the way home, or around the dinner table!
What were some of your favorite activities you go to do? Why?
Did you learn anything new at camp? What did you learn?
Who are some new friends you met? Tell me about them.
Which skill was your favorite? Why?
What was your favorite thing about the day/week? Why?
What was anything at camp that surprised you?
Describe your counselor. What did you like about him/her?
Is there anything you did at camp that you’d like to do more often in your everyday life?
What was your favorite camp song? Can you teach it to me?
What truths did you learn about Jesus this week/session?
Extending Today’s Truth’s at Home
This year at camp, your Camper will journey to higher ground as we Ascend to the mountain peaks in this years camp theme. Together, Campers will discover powerful truths about what it means to meet with our holy and personal God–the One who sees them, knows them, and invites them to walk with Him every day.
In Psalm 121:1–2, the psalmist writes, “I lift my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.”
Just as standing on a mountaintop gives us a new perspective, meeting with God changes the way we see ourselves and the world around us. The God who created the mountains is not distant. He is present, personal, and invites each of us to know Him more deeply.
As your Camper begins this journey, we invite you to come along, too. For each of our truths, we’ll share what your Camper saw, heard, and learned, along with Scripture to read, questions to ask, and prompts to help you share about your own experiences with God.
We’ll even include a few short videos to help bring these truths home. Watch them on your own or together with your Camper! Let’s keep the conversation going all summer long.

What did you learn through the story of Moses and the burning bush?
Why do you think Moses doubted himself, even after God spoke to him?
What do you think Moses was afraid of?

Have you ever wondered, “Do I have what it takes?”
What does it mean that “God does not make mistakes”?
How does knowing that God is with us change the way we face difficult things?
What is one area of your life where you need to trust that God made you exactly as you are?
How would you encourage a friend who feels like they don’t have what it takes?

Have you ever experienced a time when you wondered, “Do I have what it takes?”
Share with your Camper about a moment when you felt unqualified, uncertain, or afraid, but God reminded you that He created you with purpose and would be with you.
If you’re still wrestling with questions about your own purpose or abilities, talk with your Camper about what Exodus 3 teaches us: God does not call perfect people. He calls people and promises to be with them.

What did you learn through the story of Elijah and the prophets of Baal?
What happened on Mount Carmel, and what did Elijah learn about God?
Why do you think Elijah felt afraid and alone, even after God performed such a big miracle?
Where did Elijah expect to hear God, and where did God actually speak to him?
What do these stories teach us about who God is?
Have you ever wondered, “Can I face the unknown?”
What does it mean that “With God, I’m not alone”?
How can remembering that God is with us change the way we approach scary or unfamiliar situations?
When do you feel most alone, and how does it help to know that God is always with you?
How can prayer help us when we don’t know what comes next?

Have you ever gone through a season when you felt uncertain, afraid, or unsure of what would happen next?
If so, share with your Camper about a time when God comforted, guided, or strengthened you in the middle of that experience. How did you recognize that He was with you? Was there a person, Bible verse, prayer, or moment that reminded you that God had not left you alone?
If you’re currently walking through an unknown season, or if you haven’t experienced this in a big way yet, talk together about Elijah’s story and what it teaches us: even when life feels uncertain, God is near to His people and faithfully walks with them wherever they go.
Use the following questions to talk with your camper about this verse.
Do you remember the four pictures you learned? What did you learn through the gospel images?
What does the heart mean? (God Loves)
What does the broken heart mean? (We Sin)
What does the cross mean? (God Gave)
What does the gift mean? (I Receive)
Have you ever wondered “Who could love the real me?”
What does it mean that “God does personally?”
How did God show His love for us, even when we were far from Him?
Why is Jesus so important in the story of how we get reconnected to God?
Why do you think God would go so far, giving His own Son, to fix our relationship with Him?
What does it mean that God knows everything about you – your strengths, mistakes, fears, and hopes – and still loves you deeply?
How does it change the way we see ourselves when we remember that we are fully known and fully loved by God?

Share your personal thoughts about those four images with your Camper. What does it mean to you to hear that God Loves and, even though We Sin, God Gave?
Can you identify with this response to this statement: I Receive? If so, share with your Camper how your life is different because you have believed in Jesus and received His gift of eternal life.
If not, share with your Camper how your life might change if you were to believe Jesus came to reconnect you in close relationship with God and you received eternal life from and with Him.
Share from your heart and encourage your Camper and/or other family members to do the same. This could be an awesome conversation that none of you will ever forget.

How should I live my life? Step by step, follow Christ.

Use the following questions to talk with your camper about this verse.
Before Jesus returned to heaven, what promise did He make to His followers?
What happened when the Holy Spirit came in Acts 2?
Why do you think Jesus gave His followers the Holy Spirit?
What do these verses teach us about God’s desire to be with and guide His people?
Have you ever wondered “How should I live my life?”
What does it mean that “Step by step, follow Christ”?
What are some practical ways we can follow Jesus in our everyday lives – at home, at school, or with friends?
What do you think it means to follow Jesus one step at a time instead of having everything figured out all at once?
How does knowing that God gives us His Spirit help us face the future with confidence?

Share with your Camper about someone who showed you what it looks like to follow Jesus. How did they impact your life?
If you follow Jesus, tell your Camper about a time when God led you one step at a time or gave you an opportunity to share His love with someone else.
If you are still learning what it means to follow Christ, talk honestly about the questions you have and the ways you hope to grow in your faith.
Invite everyone in your family to share one small step they can take this week to follow Jesus more closely.
