Thank you, Truett

Truett Cathy didn’t just invent the chicken sandwich. That contribution to the world is one for which we are all eternally grateful, but that contribution is only a small part of the legacy Mr. Cathy established in his 93 years. Chick-fil-A is a successful business that sells a great deal of chicken, but sales have never been the end goal for Truett Cathy. Mr. Cathy always said that the purpose of Chick-fil-A was more than just selling chicken. In the early 1980s, Chick-fil-A formed a statement of its corporate purpose: “To glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us,” and “To have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-fil-A.” Truett Cathy embodied that purpose. He believed in glorifying God, and he believed in doing so by wisely stewarding what was entrusted to him. 30 years ago, Truett Cathy saw a space that wasn’t being used, and he saw a way to use that space to positively impact children and families.

In 1985, Truett Cathy started WinShape Camps. Truett sized WinShape Camps exists because of Truett Cathy’s vision.

Because of his commitment to sharing the gospel, thousands of campers have been reached with the Good News of Jesus Christ, and thousands of summer staffers know the incredible experience of being used for God’s kingdom. bible

Because of his dedication to excellence, thousands of staff and campers have seen firsthand what it’s like to offer their very best to the King of Kings.  excellence1

Because of his devotion to creating remarkable experiences, thousands of campers, parents, and staff know the inexpressible joy of being a child of God. fun1

It was Truett that wrapped everything he did in faith, and everything he touched displayed the same characteristics of glorifying God. Truett Cathy didn’t care much for success or recognition. Mr. Cathy lived to be welcomed home by his heavenly father saying, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” All of us – campers, parents, and staff – have been impacted by the life, mission, and ministry of Truett Cathy.  His legacy now lives on in his children, Dan, Bubba, and Trudy; his legacy lives on in his grandchildren and great grandchildren; and his legacy lives on in each one of us at WinShape Camps.

Thank you, Mr. Cathy, for all you did for us.
