2014 Camper Story: Duffy Weldon

WinShape Camps is a place like no other. For me, it is the place that ultimately brought me into the intimate relationship that I now have with Christ.

How wrong I was! After six summers well spent at WinShape, I can safely say that it is my favorite place on earth.

I have had the opportunity to get to know six counselors, and all of them have been amazing people placed in my life by God. WinShape is unique in the fact that it is not just about having fun, but it blends the fun with lessons about our walk with Christ. It was through WinShape that I accepted Christ, and now I rejoice in seeing others discover this awesome relationship.

All of the activities that I partook in as a younger camper, like sock war, are still fun. I’ve brought several friends to WinShape, and they have all loved it. The counselors at WinShape are incredible, compassionate people who want nothing more than to bring their campers closer to God. After six years, there has not been one counselor that I have not loved as a brother by the end of camp. They have served as amazing role models for me throughout the years, and I look forward to getting to know 3 more.

But after my time as a camper, I plan on applying for the position of JC, and then staying on as a counselor for as long as I can. And if it is in God’s will, I plan on sending my own children to camp. I know that they, and kids for years to come, will find WinShape as special a place as I do.
